A fine of Rs. 1,000 may be imposed if an employer or any other person:

  • Fails to fulfill the terms of the apprenticeship contract.
  • Engages an apprentice who does not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Violates any provisions of the Apprentices Act.
  • Refuses to appoint the required number of apprentices.

If an employer does not maintain the mandated number of apprentices, a one-month notice is given. After this period, a fine of Rs.500 is levied for the first three months, increasing to Rs.1,000 per month until the required positions are filled.
